Truck and Trailer Wheel Alignment

Our Service

Here at WCTP we specialise in truck and trailer wheel alignment to customers across Munster, using the fully digital Josam Cam-aligner. This state-of-the-art system allows us achieve accurate wheel alignment in our Co. Clare workshop, on any vehicle in the shortest possible time. Using our mobile setup, we also offer an on-site service at our customers’ premises throughout Co. Clare and Limerick. Our camera-based system is perfect for trucks, trailers, and tractors that use Irish roads.

An initial diagnosis can be performed in under 30 minutes. We can complete a full wheel alignment in 1-4 hours, depending on the size of the vehicle and number of axles. Contact us by phone or email for an appointment or for a quote. We can usually schedule an alignment for the same week.

Josam Cam-aligner has gained the approval of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Volvo Group, Mack trucks, and many other vehicle manufacturers.

How We Align

We mount electronic sensors on both the steer axle and tandem axles. The paired hardware and advanced software simplifies the calibration process, allowing for precise wheel adjustments by our trained technician. Our Cam-aligner uses the same technology and measuring procedures found in end-of-line systems in manufacturing facilities worldwide.

Wireless technology transmits the data between the measuring units and the computer. All the while, advanced computer software guides our technician through the measuring process, and prints out measurement reports of values—before and after alignment.

Features and Benefits of the Josam Cam-Aligner

  • Guided software: Step-by-step measurement procedures, combined with industry recommended specifications, ensure technician accuracy.
  • Full Frame Referencing: Cam-aligner utilises the centreline principle to determine positioning of axles and wheels; the preferred method approved by most manufacturers.
  • Inclinometer: Floor unevenness and lifted axles are compensated for to ensure accurate camber, caster, and KPI readings.
  • Fine-Tuning: Wheel angles such as toe (±0.2 mm/m), steering box position, camber (±3 min), out of square, parallelism and axle offset, caster, KPI, toe out on turns, and max turn are measured by Josam’s patented camera technology, which can be fine-tuned in millimetres or degrees to ensure that all angles are parallel.
  • Versatility: The universal spider wheel adapter accommodates aluminium and steel rims, making it an ideal choice for both LCV’s and medium and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Frame Check: The camera technology and software can diagnose frame damage and create reports for insurance companies.

Josam Wheel Alignment Types

Is Wheel Alignment Necessary

Wheel alignment ensures each wheel on each axle is straight. This reduces rolling resistance. If wheels are misaligned, one or more of the following issues will be apparent:

Unnecessary tyre-wear
Excessive fuel consumption
Unsafe vehicle handling and driver fatigue
Wear on suspension components

High diesel and tyre prices make regular preventive wheel alignment crucial for truck owners, as it reduces operational costs. In addition, driver comfort, road safety, and driveability will be improved.

How Often Is Wheel Alignment Required

Truck wheel alignment is recommended every 15,000km-25,000km. The variable range is due to several factors:

Driving Conditions – frequent driving on rough roads, off-road or potholes will require more frequent alignments
Uneven or Rapid Tyre Wear – this is a sign that alignment is needed
Vehicle Handling – where a truck pulls to one side, the steering wheel vibrates or is off-centre when driving straight
After Suspension Work or Fitting New Tyres
After an Accident
